RecoMed is named a top HealthTech company

TIME has partnered with Statista to identify the world's top healthtech companies. The global analysis lists companies delivering the most impactful technologies to improve health.

Listed companies are ranked on three metrics, including financial performance, reputation analysis, and online engagement.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, companies focusing on AI and data analytics ranked at the top end - a reflection of the current boom in using health data to improve everything from screening for disease to diagnostics and matching patients to the right treatments that are most likely to lead to the best health outcomes.

One of only three African companies on the list, RecoMed is recognised for its leading role in leveraging tech to solve systemic challenges. This is especially pertinent in emerging markets like Africa, where critical gaps in healthcare are fuelling innovation.

RecoMed was founded in 2013 by Sheraan Amod in Cape Town. In 2017, HAVAÍC first backed the healthtech startup, which has since grown into South Africa’s largest online healthcare booking platform. Connecting patients with over 3,000 practitioners and facilitating more than 100,000 bookings monthly, the service ensures seamless and reliable access to healthcare.

By prioritising transparency and convenience, RecoMed reduces inefficiencies in patient care and sets a benchmark for digital health solutions in emerging markets.

RecoMed stands as both a key player in Africa’s rapidly evolving health ecosystem and a powerful example of how smart capital and strategic guidance can elevate startups to deliver lasting impact.
